Caravan Decking Ideas for Lincolnshire Holiday Parks

Oct 13, 2026

A good deck turns a static caravan into a proper holiday home. It gives you somewhere to eat outside, watch the sunset and keep sandy shoes out of the lounge. If you’re planning a new deck on a park around Skegness or Ingoldmells, here are some ideas to help you get the most from your space.

Choose the right layout

  • Front walkaway: a narrow deck along the front door, ideal on tighter pitches.
  • Wrap-around: runs along the front and down one side, so you can follow the sun through the day.
  • Corner deck: a wider area at one end for a table and chairs, with a walkway to the door.
  • Split level: useful on sloping pitches, and it separates a seating area from the entrance.

Always check your park’s rules on deck size and position before you settle on a design.

Think about the view

If your caravan looks over a lake, fields or the sea, position the main seating area to face it. Glass balustrade panels keep the view open while still keeping everyone safe. We cover this in more detail in our post on raised decks for sea-view properties.

Make it safe for children and dogs

A full balustrade with a self-closing gate means children and pets can play outside while you relax. Choose a slip-resistant board finish, and make sure the steps have a sturdy handrail.

Add light for evenings

Small LED lights set into the steps and posts make the deck usable after dark and help people find their footing. See our decking lighting options.

Plan for a hot tub

If a hot tub is on your wish list, plan for it now. A tub full of water is heavy, so the deck beneath needs extra support. Building it in from the start is far easier than adapting a deck later. Our hot tub decking page explains the options.

Finish it off properly

Skirting around the base of the caravan and deck gives a tidy, finished look and stops leaves and litter blowing underneath. Matching colours across the decking, skirting and balustrade make the whole pitch look smarter.

Pick a low-maintenance material

Most holiday homes sit empty for weeks at a time, so you want a deck that looks good when you arrive, not one that needs a weekend of sanding and staining. UPVC decking doesn’t rot, splinter or need painting. A wash down with soapy water keeps it looking fresh.
